An unfashion-y fashion post

Is your fashion sense a true expression of your personal style?  Untainted and unaffected by the larger fashion powers that be?  By those that decide what's "in" and what's "out"?  I try to be me with the clothing I wear and what I put on my body, but the truth is I'm affected.  Since I have a love for "fashion", I read up on related blogs, books, magazines, articles, etc.  I watch the runway shows and check out designers "for less" in stores like Target and Kohls.  Truth is, I'm being fed what I "like".  Everything is chosen, to an extent, for me.  Designers and editors put their creations out and it trickles all the way down to more accessible fashion sources for the average girl (me) like department stores and youtube bloggers.  In this decided arena, is it possible to truly have your own sense of style?  Or are we all just forced to "like" what everyone else "likes"?

In a world where so much is chosen for us, what is personal style?
